Our Approach

Creative teams require an approach that brings together the best of team coaching, innovation process, design facilitation, and collaboration training.

At Radically Human, we specialize in the particular needs of creative leaders, creative teams, and creative initiatives. Our clients include deep work with single discipline teams (UX teams, In-store Experience teams, brand strategy groups) and cross-disciplinary product, design, and innovation teams.

We blend 20 years experience in interaction design and design strategy and 7 years work in the unique organizational challenges of creative groups. Through this work, we have developed a methodology that breaks through poorly formed visions, unhealthy conflict, and common communication barriers. The result are higher functioning teams aligned towards a common vision.

Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI) and
Organizational Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC)

Relationship Systems Intelligence (RSI) is a fundamental component of Organizational Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC), a methodology developed by the Center for Right Relationship. ORSC and RSI work well with design methods and can dramatically increase the effectiveness of creative collaboration. Where Emotional Intelligence focuses on self-awareness, and Social Intelligence focus on other-awareness, Relationship Systems Intelligence focuses on a team’s “we-ness.” With a relationship systems approach, the team, rather than the individuals, is the coaching client. This allows us to reveal the nature of the team to the team itself. This awareness helps the team move forward with open eyes and typically in with deeper, more sustainable relationships.

Visual Thinking and Geography

In software and technology, one of the main communication channels used are words – discussions, presentations, debate. We augment words with tools that engage other intelligences, primarily visual and physical. Visual Thinking is the use of visual techniques — drawing, illustration, collage, prototyping, diagramming — to understand, reframe, and make meaning. Geography is the use of physical space to switch mindsets, get access to information the body or heart knows (before the brain rationalizes it). This approach breaks the cycle of fruitless debate that often cripples teams.

Design Facilitation

Design Facilitation is the process of using design methodology (observation, analysis, synthesis, evaluation) to work on projects beyond the reach of traditional design work. Similar to Design Thinking (but less prescriptive), Design Facilitation can help orient a team systematically through a problem using frameworks or other more rigorous structures.
